The Clinical Coordinator will coordinate the development, placement, implementation, and evaluation of all clinical activities for students enrolled in the Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) Nursing NUA, BSN, and LPN Programs. The coordinator will demonstrate a strong commitment to the value of diversity among students and staff, as well as sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of PPSC students. The coordinator works with colleagues to create an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all can succeed.

The college offers the possibility for alternative work arrangements such as flexplace, remote work, or flextime scheduling upon completion of training and department needs.

Minimum Qualifications REVISED 12/09/2024

  • Completed bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR completed associate’s degree with two years of professional level experience in business management/organizational management OR four years of professional level experience in business management/organizational management.

Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge.  Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience managing and coordinating department operations.
  • Three or more years of experience with medical or clinical or nursing background.
  • Experience with clinical compliance software.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission.
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection and analysis.

Essential Functions

Clinical Facility and Student Coordination

  • Manage clinical rotations and internships process. Develops schedules for students, faculty, instructors, and clinical facilities.
  • Collaborates with clinical community partners regarding placement needs.
  • Fosters partnerships with clinical facilities for multidisciplinary programs.
  • Maintain current knowledge of student and clinical facility requirements for rotations and internships.
  • Primary resource to educate students, faculty, and instructors on the clinical rotation/internship requirements.
  • Ensures student and instructor orientation documentation, computer access, security badges and other requirements are met as determined by clinical affiliates.

Operations and Data Collection

  • Review and track immunization records for accreditation purposes.
  • Ensures processes are in place to notify students/instructors of renewal requirements.
  • Verify background checks and drug screens are approved by Human Resources to ensure students, faculty, and instructors are prepared for clinical placement.
  • Assures PPSC clinical participants are in compliance with contractual agreements prior to placement into partner facilities.
  • Ensure clinical contracts and affiliation agreements are current.
  • Work with Procurement Department to begin renewal process for expiring agreements.
  • Assists with data base development for accreditation, internal and external process improvement, and validity, trending, and projection analysis.
  • Determine appropriate filing systems and file retention for associated documentation.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across the college and community partners.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office and various computer programs and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and interpret educational procedures.
  • Ability to travel to multiple campus and partner locations.
